Turple Finishes 8th In Rookie Run - Will Race NBIS Next

HALIFAX, NS (2004 August 14) - Shawn Turple finished a very respectable eighth of 29 cars entered in The Atlantic CAT 250 at Scotia Speedworld. Turple was making his official pro stock racing debut in the event. He was scored as the first car one lap down and would most probably have finished on the lead lap were it not for an early spin in the race. Turple was driving the SFR car, fielded by Scott Fraser's family and race team. The car is the same one Scott drvoe in super pros stock competition last year and was preparing for the '04 season at the time of his death in March.

"Shawn did good," said Frank Fraser. "The spin was a rookie mistake, but it didn't hurt us too bad. He kept his cool and worked his way back into the mix."

The SFR car with Turple behind the wheel will race next on September 5 at New Brunswick International Speedway, a 250-lap event that was won by Scott Fraser last year.
