Mechanical Woes Stall Turple At NBIS

(2004 September 6) - A drive train seizure caused a few frightning moments for SFR fans at New Brunswick International Speedway on Sunday night. After qualifying the racecar in the 19th spot among the 35 entries, driver Shawn Turple sat helplessly mid-track at the start/finish line as the pack roared down the backstretch and through turns three and four to take the green after his car "just quit" on the last pace lap. Thankfully, the 28-car field got slowed up enough to avoid the SFR car.

"We've eliminated everything but the engine right now," said Frank Fraser. "Once we figure out what we're facing here we'll have a better idea where our next race is."
