Frank Fraser Back In the Saddle Again
HALIFAX, NS (2005 June 25) - Shawn Turple drove the No. 0-SFR Atlantic CAT Monte Carlo to a respectable sixth-place finish in The Forbes Chev Olds PASS 200 at Scotia Speedworld. Turple ran as high as fourth and was one of just six drivers to finish on the lead lap of the race. Veteran short track legend Mike Rowe, 58, from Turner, Maine, was the winner. Scott Alexander, who finished fifth, was the top Canadian, just ahead of Turple. The pro stock race was Turple's second of the night, having finished second in a 100-lap sportsman feature that preceded the pro stock feature race. All on a day that saw temperatures climb close to 100 degrees (F). "He just ran out of steam," said Frank Fraser of Turple's pro stock finish. "But we're really happy with his race. We had a good car and our driver did a great job. He stayed out of trouble and made the right moves when it counted. For this being just his seventh career pro stock race, we're really, really pleased with where he's at." Turple will pilot the 0-SFR racecar this coming Saturday (July 2) in The Parts For Trucks 100 at Raceway Park in PEI, and Sunday (pending Saturday's outcome) at Centre For Speed in Shediac, NB. Turple To Run Fraser Car In 05 SHUBENACADIE, NS (2005 March 22) - Shawn Turple will pilot the SFR pro stock/late model racecar for the entire 2005 race season in the Maritimes. Turple (Enfield) will drive the car for Frank Fraser and the team will be a joint effort between the late Scott Fraser's team members and Turple's sportsman team members. The racecar is the same one Turple ran for Frank Fraser last year in limited events, and was being prepared by Scott Fraser for himself at the time of his death last March. "This is something we need to do," said Frank, Scott's dad. "It's the way Scott would have wanted it. A lot of people helped him along the way, so we're in turn helping another young driver (Shawn). We ran the car some with Shawn in it at the end of last year and he did good, so we're going to see if we can help get his pro stock racing career off the ground this year."
