POINT STANDINGS SHOW FRASER NINTH OVERALL
     CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Unofficial point standings posted by the American Speed Association (ASA) following the Iowa 300 show Scott Fraser ninth.
     After five of 20 races on the ASA season, the Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia driver is shown with 677 points, 170 behind leader Butch Miller of Coopersville, Michigan.
     Fraser is second in ASA Rookie of the Year point standings, closely following rookie leader Chris Wimmer, who is eighth overall with 683 points.
     Race number six of the season is May 6 at Montgomery Motor Speedway in Alabama.

FRASER HAS TRYING DAY AT CEDAR RAPIDS
     CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Scott Fraser crashed early in the Iowa 300 at Haweye Downs Speedway on Saturday. Fraser had nowhere to go in the No. 00 King Freight Lines Chevrolet when two cars ahead of him made contact and spun.
     "We did a lot of damage to the car," said Fraser, who entered the race as the leading contender in the Rookie of the Year standings.
     The crew cut the front end away and replaced many of the suspension parts before Fraser returned to the race 68 laps later.
     "We knew we wouldn't be contending," said Fraser, from Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia. "But we had to get the car back out to gain as many points as we could."
     Fraser finished the race in the 29th spot. The crash happened on lap 38 with Fraser running 19th at the time. He started 21st.
     Polesitter Johnny Sauter, Necedah, Wis. was the winner, followed by Gary St. Amant, Mike Garvey, Mike Cope and David Stremme.
     Race number six of 20 on the ASA 2001 series is May 6 at Montgomery Motor Speedway in Alabama.

FRASER WINS QUALIFYING RACE
     CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Scott Fraser has grabbed his first-ever checkered flag with the American Speed Association (ASA) by winning the 100-lap qualifiers race for Saturday's Iowa 300. Fraser will start the 300-lap event from the 21st starting spot.
     "The race gave us a good idea of what the car will do in long runs tomorrow," said Fraser, the leading rookie contender and seventh in overall points on the series.
     Fraser, from Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia, led all 100 laps of the qualifying race in the No. 00 King Freight Lines Chevrolet.
     Johnny Sauter, Necedah, Wis., will start the Iowa 300 on the pole, with Gary St. Amant, Kevin Cywinski, Mike Garvey and Greg Stewart rounding out the top five.
     The top 18 cars were determined by time trials. Fraser's best lap was timed lap was 19th.
     Saturday's race will be telecast live on TNN at 3 p.m. EDT.

FINAL PRACTICE SHOWS FRASER 16TH
     CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - With final practice for the Iowa 300 now complete, Scott Fraser's second practice session lap of 19.096 seconds remains his fast time for the day.
     The next ASA activity at the track is qualifing time trials at 5:30 EDT.
     Saturday's Iowa 300 will be telecast live on TNN at 3 p.m. EDT.

FRASER FIFTH FASTEST IN FIRST ROUND OF PRACTICE AT CEDAR RAPIDS
     CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Scott Fraser is fifth fastest after the first 50-minute practice session for the Iowa 300. 41 cars posted times with Johnny Sauter rounding the 1/2-mile oval fastest at 18.940-seconds. Fraser's time of 19.137 is just over 2/10-second off Sauter's time.
     Two rounds of practice remain before qualifying time trials, scheduled for 5:30 EDT Friday. The fastest 18 cars will be guaranteed starting spots for the Iowa 300, with the balance of the field decided through points provisionals and finishing positions in a 100-lap qualifying race. The Iowa 300 will be telecast live on TNN Saturday at 3 p.m. EDT.
