FRASER SALVAGES BAD START AT CONCORD
CONCORD, N.C. - Scott Fraser was able to salvage a 24th-place finish in the BFGoodrich Tires 300 at Concord Motorsports Park after a first lap wreck resulted in severe damages to the No. 00 King Freight LInes Chevrolet.
"I don't know what happened with the car behind me," said Fraser, Shubenacadie, NS. "We were just accelerating on the initial start entering turn one and he practically ran over me."
Fraser's crew replaced several parts on the car, including: transmission, drive shaft, rear shock and suspensions pieces, and rear brakes.
The repairs were complete and Fraser re-entered the race lap 39 at the half-mile circuit.
"It's really too bad," said Fraser, who was starting 18 in the 35-car field. "We had a good car today. Once we got back out we were running the same lap times as the leader."
The race winner was Johnny Sauter, Necedah, Wis., followed by Butch Miller, Wayne Anderson, Mike Garvey and Scott Hansen.
Fraser's next race is June 2 at Nashville Speedway, round eight of the 20-race American Speed Association (ASA) schedule.
FRASER STARTING 18TH AT CONCORD
CONCORD, N.C. - Scott Fraser, driver of the No. 00 King Freight Lines Chevrolet, will start Sunday's BFGoodrich Tires 300 at Concord Motorsports Park from the 18th spot. 39 cars took two laps around the half-mile tri-oval with the fastest 18 being automatically transferred to the feature race.
"The car feels great," said Fraser, Shubenacadie, N.S. "It should be good during long green flag segments."
Robbie Pyle, Columbus, Oh., was the fastest around the track and will start from the pole position. Johnny Sauter, Rodney Childers, Kevin Cywinski and Gary St. Amant round out the top five starters.
The BFGoodrich Tires 300 will be telecast live at 1 p.m. EDT.
FRASER READY FOR CONCORD
CONCORD, N.C. - Scott Fraser returns to American Speed Association (ASA) action this Sunday in the BFGoodrich Tires 300 at Concord Motorsports Park. Fraser says the D-shaped half-mile track is sure to provide some excitement.
"It's a fast, tight track," said Fraser, driver of the No. 00 King Freight Lines Chevrolet. "The type of place that track position will mean a lot."
Fraser, from Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia, tested at the facility a couple of weeks ago and he liked it.
"It's different from any place we've run," said Fraser. "It's got a dogleg in the backstretch so we'll be carrying a lot of speed into turn three."
The BFGoodrich Tires 300 is round seven on the 20-race ASA schedule. Fraser is currently ninth in national point standings and second by only six points in the Rookie of the Year race. 74 teams have competed year-to-date in the series, 18 of those are rookie contenders.
Fraser's race weekend kicks off early with an autograph session at Concord Mills Outlet Mall, in Concord, N.C. (I-85 Exit 49) on Friday from 4 p.m.- 7 p.m. EDT. Practice and qualifying are set for Saturday.
Sunday's race will be telecast live on TNN at 1 p.m. EDT.
