FRASER TO START EIGHTH AT SOUTH BOSTON
SOUTH BOSTON, Va. - Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia's Scott Fraser will start the Textilease Medique 300 from the outside of the fourth row on Saturday night. Fraser's fast lap of 15.456 seconds was good enough for the eighth spot among the 36 cars entered in the American Speed Association (ASA) event at the historic South Boston Speedway.
Fraser's time in the No. 00 King Freight Lines/King Racing Monte Carlo was the best of any rookie entered in the race. Fraser leads the ASA Rookie of the Year race after four events by 21 points over Chris Wimmer, the ninth-fastest qualifier for the South Boston race.
The 30-year-old is eager to see the race take the green flag on Saturday night.
"I like the track," said Fraser. "It's three lanes wide but a tight three lanes. I think it will be one where you can get going on the outside and that's what we like.It should be very interesting."
Joey Clanton, from Stockbridge, Ga., with a fast lap of 15.338, will start the 300-lap race from the pole position, with Billy Parker, Scott Hansen, Butch Miller and Kevin Cywinski rounding out the top five starting spots.
