FRASER RESCHEDULES SECOND "FANS OF FRASER" RACE
WINCHESTER, Ind. - Due to circumstances created by Tuesday's terrorist attacks in New York City and Washington, D.C., Scott Fraser and the King Racing crew have postponed the second race for the American Speed Association (ASA) No. 00 "Fans of Fraser" Chevrolet.
Fraser won't compete in this Sunday's Winchester 400 because members of his crew are unable to make their way from Nova Scotia to Winchester for the race. Fraser will resume competition at the 2001 ASA season finale at Indianapolis Raceway Park in Clermont, Ind., on Sept. 29.
"Like everyone else, we are in a state of disbelief over the events," said Fraser. "These attacks on the United States were senseless. When it was announced today that air travel is suspended indefinitely and that border crossings between Canada and the United States are, for the most part, closed except for certain types of travel, we decided to reschedule our second race. It didn't make any sense to attempt to get our guys to Winchester and not really know whether they could arrive in time. Also, thousands of other persons have been stranded for two days needing to get to their destinations, and we feel we have an obligation to give those people priority.
Fraser, who has been busy preparing for this weekend's Winchester race, is unsure whether he'll stay in the U.S. or return to Nova Scotia until the Indianapolis race.
