Scott Fraser Looks to Finish Season in Victory Lane (10/10/00)
MADISON, IL. -    Scott Fraser thinks the ability to quickly adapt to the track could produce his first career American Speed Association victory Saturday night in the BFGoodrich 200 at Gateway International Raceway. Fraser, driver of the No. 00 King Freight Lines Monte Carlo, has taken the ASA by storm despite a lack of experience at the tracks on the circuit.

"Our cars have been very well prepared so we've usually been able to adapt to tracks very quickly," said Fraser. "The main key is to adjust to every track as fast as possible and get the car suited to my driving style. My style is to win races and we've been fairly close at times." Close is not the word for it. In just five starts this season, Fraser has started on the front row twice, finished in the top-10 four times and led laps in four races. He also showed the ability to come from behind when he started 37th and finished eighth in Toledo. "I think possibly some of our success has to do with luck," said Fraser, 29, of Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia. "But we haven't run all the races, so we've taken advantage of having the extra time to prepare the car."

What happens after Fraser adapts to the track? "First we hope to have a real good qualifying run and the next step is to win," said Fraser. "We feel we can win, but we need just a little more luck. We've practiced our pit stops and we've been working hard to get better. This might be our weekend." The BFGoodrich 200 will be televised live on TNN at 9 p.m. (EST) Saturday.
