FRASER CONFIRMED FOR CARQUEST PRO STOCK TOUR OPENER
HALIFAX, N.S. - Shubenacadie's Scott Fraser has confirmed he will race at Scotia Speedworld on May 12th in The Daily News 100 - the inaugural event for the CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour.
Fraser, currently ninth in ASA point standings, is driving the No. 00 Pictou-based King Freight Lines entry full-time with the competitive series in 2001. He has been travelling back to his home and race shop in Shubenacadie between ASA events this spring preparing his pro stock car for the "home" season. He will return home next week after an ASA race Sunday in Montgomery, Alabama, then will return to Concord, North Carolina, for a race on May 20th.
"It's been busy, for sure," said Fraser, whose 2001 ASA schedule has taken him to Florida (twice), California, Virginia and Iowa. "As dedicated as we are to the ASA program, we realize it's important to stay in touch with the people that have supported us along the way. We consider Scotia Speedworld our home track. They have helped us a lot and are really behind racing in the Maritimes. It's only proper that we show our support as they start this new series."
The CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour was founded over the winter months by the owners of Scotia Speedworld. The series will provide a competitive forum for both the racers and the race fans to enjoy.
"Much preparation has gone into this series," said Basil Gordon, General Manager of the CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour. "We have tried to pull together the best of everything to provide an exciting, competitive and affordable show."
More than 30 teams have registered car numbers for the 2001 season. The 12-race series will make stops at five different facilities in the three Maritime Provinces, including: Scotia Speedworld in Halifax and Riverside Speedway in Antigonish, Nova Scotia; New Brunswick International Speedway in Geary and Centre For Speed in Shediac, New Brunswick; and Raceway Park in Oyster Bed Bridge, Prince Edward Island.
Fraser's ASA race this Sunday will be televised live on TNN at 2 p.m. ADT. For more information on Scott Fraser, please visit www.scottfraseronline.com.
