FRASER RACES TO FOURTH PLACE IN CALIFORNIA (3/10/01)
IRWINDALE, Calif. - Scott Fraser finished fourth in the Tires.com 300 at Irwindale Speedway on Saturday night. Fraser came from the 17th-place starting spot in the No. 00 King Freight Lines Chevrolet to challenge for the win on several occasions during the American Speed Association event - the first ever race for the series, and Fraser, in the Golden state.
Fraser, the top finishing rookie of 16 in the 38-car field, led 49 laps before making his final pit stop of the event for tires and a splash of fuel, emerging from pit road 10th and advancing as high as third, finally settling for fourth. The top three finishers, Gary St. Amant, Kevin Cywinski and Butch Miller (respectively) have six series championships among them.
"We had a good car tonight," said Fraser, from Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia. "The guys have been practicing their stops and did good both times we were in for tires and fuel. We made a couple of adjustments that worked well. The car got real tight at the end so we decided not to push it too hard. We always prefer to win but we're tickled with this run tonight."
The ASA resumes with the third of 20 events on the 2001 season at USA International Speedway in Lakeland, Florida on March 24th. Fraser is excited to carry the California momentum with him to Lakeland.
"I wish it was tomorrow," said Fraser. "We can't wait."

ASA POINT STANDINGS SHOW FRASER 9TH AFTER TWO EVENTS
Unofficial point standings released by the ASA ACDelco Series following the Tires.com 300 at Irwindale Speedway in California show Scott Fraser, the "Shubie Shuttle", tied for ninth spot at 258 points.
Fraser's fourth place finish at Irwindale in the No. 00 King Freight Lines Chevrolet earned him 160 markers and moved him 20 spots up the ladder from 29th in the standings after the series first event of the season at St. Augustine, Florida on February 17.
Fraser and Chris Wimmer are tied both for ninth spot and as leading contenders for the Pat Schauer Memorial Rookie of the Year Award.
With 18 events remaining on the ASA ACDelco Series 2001 season, Fraser is just 108 points behind current points leader, Kevin Cywinski.
